Jamshedpur FC has started their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Mumbai City FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Greg Stewart was the star of the show for Jamshedpur FC, scoring a brace to help his team secure all three points. Daniel Chima Chukwu also got on the scoresheet for the Red Miners, while Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Lallianzuala Chhangte scored for Mumbai City FC.

The match started at a frantic pace, with both teams looking to take the lead. Mumbai City FC had the first chance of the game when Diaz fired a shot just wide of the post. Jamshedpur FC responded with a chance of their own, but Stewart's shot was saved by Phurba Lachenpa.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 25th minute when Chukwu headed home a cross from Ricky van Wolfswinkel. Mumbai City FC equalized just seven minutes later through Diaz, who scored with a header of his own.

Stewart then put Jamshedpur FC back in front in the 40th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box. The Scotsman doubled his tally in the 65th minute with another long-range effort.

Mumbai City FC pulled a goal back in the 80th minute through Chhangte, but it was not enough to prevent Jamshedpur FC from taking all three points.

What does this mean for Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City FC?

The win takes Jamshedpur FC to the top of the ISL 2024-25 standings, while Mumbai City FC are now in fifth place.

Jamshedpur FC will be looking to continue their winning ways when they face NorthEast United FC in their next match on Saturday, while Mumbai City FC will be hoping to bounce back when they host ATK Mohun Bagan on Monday.
